Large-format porcelain gives a quieter, cleaner modern line that suits the newer Las Colinas and Valley Ranch builds where the architecture is already doing the talking. Coping is the cap where the deck meets the water and it decides how the edge feels. Travertine stays properly cool underfoot in August, which isn't a small thing here. Cantilevered concrete and precast bullnose are the value options and both look right when they're set dead true and wrong when they're not. Our water leaves a white calcium band above the tile within a few seasons. Bead blasting takes it off without eating the glaze, which acid can do if somebody is heavy-handed. If the scale is thin, a pumice stone and twenty minutes of your own time is free and works fine. Before you commit to a small tile repair, let us match the tile first. Discontinued patterns are the single most common reason a four-foot patch turns into re-tiling the whole waterline, and finding that out on install day is nobody's favorite conversation. If we can't match it, a full waterline in something you actually chose is usually the better spend anyway.
